(Indianapolis, IN) — Indiana Farm Bureau has presented Rep. Luke Messer with a “Friend of Farm Bureau” award. Messer represents Indiana’s 6th Congressional District, which encompasses Jefferson, Switzerland, Ohio, Jennings, Ripley, Dearborn, Bartholomew, Decatur, Franklin, Union, Fayette, Rush, Shelby, Hancock, Henry, Wayne, Randolph and Delaware counties, as well as a portion of Scott County.
Friend of Farm Bureau recipients are first nominated by their state Farm Bureau organization, and are then approved by the American Farm Bureau Federation’s board of directors.
During the presentation, INFB District 8 Director Mark Bacon noted that Messer has a 95 percent voting record on American Farm Bureau priorities in the 114th Congress. Messer has been supportive of trade and a repeal of the death tax. He also stood up for Hoosier farmers by opposing EPA’s ill-conceived Waters of the U.S. rule, which represents government overreach beyond congressional intent.
Messer’s Friend of Farm Bureau award is separate from his general election endorsement by Indiana Farm Bureau ELECT, the nonpartisan political action committee associated with Indiana Farm Bureau.
