(Indianapolis, IN) — Indiana Farm Bureau has presented Rep. Todd Young with a ‘Friend of Farm Bureau’ award. Young represents Indiana’s 9th Congressional District, which encompasses Johnson, Monroe, Brown, Lawrence Jackson, Orange, Washington, Harrison, Floyd and Clark counties, as well as portions of Morgan, Crawford and Scott counties. He currently serves on the Ways and Means Committee.
Friend of Farm Bureau recipients are first nominated by their state Farm Bureau organization, and are then approved by the American Farm Bureau Federation’s board of directors.
During the presentation, INFB District 7 Director Jeff Gormong noted that Young has a 90 percent voting record on American Farm Bureau priorities in the 114th Congress. Among those priority issues, Young has been supportive of biotechnology and trade. He also stood up for Hoosier farmers by opposing the death tax, as well as the EPA’s ill-conceived Waters of the U.S. rule.
Friend of Farm Bureau awards are separate from the endorsements made by Indiana Farm Bureau ELECT, the nonpartisan political action committee associated with Indiana Farm Bureau.
