The Outstanding County Young Farmers & Ag Professionals Program Award recognizes county Young Farmers & Ag Professionals committees that have done an outstanding job of promoting agriculture and Farm Bureau in their counties.
Awards will be given to the top three county Young Farmers & Ag Professionals (YF&AP) programs. Of the top three counties, the highest-scoring county program will be awarded $1,000 to take back to their county Farm Bureau. The two runner-ups will be awarded an amount of $500 to take back to their county Farm Bureau. These funds will be allocated to improve an existing program or aid in the creation of a new YF&AP county program/event.
The application process closes on October 31.
The Most Improved designation will be awarded to the one county that has the greatest increase in score, based upon the comparison of the previous two application forms. The county that receives this designation will receive an award recognizing that county as the most improved.
Up to three counties can be recognized with a certificate for the Awakening Award. The Awakening Award was started in 1998 to recognize County Young Farmers & Ag Professionals Programs that are new or have not applied for the contest in the last three years. The three counties that have the highest scores and have not applied in the past three years would be eligible for this award and receive a certificate recognizing their achievements.
Counties also may receive recognition for the Most Volunteer hours, Dollars and Pounds of food donated to the Feeding America Food Bank or affiliate (any denomination of each).
Recognition will take place during the Indiana Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ag Professionals Conference, held annually at the end of January. Winning counties may be asked to share their county’s activities during the conference.
